I: Steven CunioLinks: Home | News Archive | Latest news January 3rd, 2003 - Me and David get more time!I went to pick David up but he hadn't asked if he could stay until Sunday. I asked if he wanted to and he immediately said 'Yes'. No hesitation at all. :) I asked if his dad (M, X's new husband whom she has had David call dad since a very young age) was in. David said yes and knocked on for him. Everything was happening so fast! M came to the door and I said that I thought it was about time we had the full weekend together, until the Sunday afternoon. Of course he said he had to ask X -- as if that was going to be in our favour. He had the audacity to say it was David I should be asking anyway. Before I had the chance to respond, David said 'Yes, yes, yes' pushing himself up to M in the doorway. He had no other choice but to let it happen and that was certainly enough affirmation for me. I had taken another copy of the solicitor's letter from 7 months ago with me just in case M hadn't seen it. He said they'd only seen copies. A ploy X had cooked up to suggest with innuendo that it wasn't actually real. I told him that was because I only had a copy as the original was sent to them directly. He said they never received them. I said two had been sent and I had sent a copy and David even presented them with a copy as we heard nothing. In any case I pointed out that we weren't going to use the solicitor any longer as they had been so ineffectual for us and I just wanted to make sure he'd seen a copy. So with that we left to enjoy our full first weekend together. Unfortunately, it was not to be and to be honest I didn't think it would be. I don't think David did either. However, assurances being as they are, M has said it won't happen again, a statement he volunteered, so let's hope so. Can't wait for the 17th now! It's certainly a step in the right direction and should help to boost David's confidence at home, with me and at school! YIPPEEE! :) Here's another picture of David from a couple of years ago at Manchester's Streets Ahead festival.
